Sekura.id partners with Times Internet of India

The partnership will provide a secure, passwordless user authorisation journey for millions of Indians, leveraging the power of the SIM card.

Sekura.id has announced its partnership with Times Internet, one of India’s foremost technology companies, and The Times Group’s digital arm, the country’s largest media conglomerate. The partnership will allow Times Internet to offer a secure, passwordless mobile identity authentication service to augment its solutions for some of India’s most prominent enterprises.

The mobile identity solution is SAFr Auth, a robust, passwordless, and secure method of authenticating a user without intervention or multi-factor authentication. Sekura.id can authenticate a user by phone; no 2FA or SMS OTP is required, meaning secure, fast, and convenient user authentication.

In 2022, Statista ranked India as the top among researched countries worldwide by the number of identity theft cases, with an estimated 27.2 million adult victims. In contrast, the United States suffered approximately half this amount, with 13.5 million consumers having encountered identity theft that year.

In India, according to Experian’s 2022 Global Identity and Fraud Report, more than half of Indians surveyed encountered fraud on social media sites (38%), payment system providers (30%), and online gaming platforms (30%).

Sekura.id also processes multi-million transactions for household name tier-1 UK banks and international banks, global fintech and financial institutions and many other verticals and flags between 5-7% recent SIM swap and/or call diverts.

Gautam Hazari, CTO, Sekura.id said, “We are delighted to partner with Times Mobile in Times Internet, one of India’s most respected companies. This partnership will enable the delivery of innovative solutions like SAFr Auth to protect the digital life of Indian consumers in the most inclusive way using the superpower of the SIM.”

“In this challenging time of Generative AI-driven deepfakes, this partnership allows Times Internet and Sekura.id to deliver better conversion for businesses by reducing friction and enhancing security through the market-leading platform, SAFr as well as innovative products and services, which have touched 2.5 billion humans worldwide for the last three years.”

Nitin Chowdhary, Vice President and Business Head of Times Mobile said, “User identity authentication is a critical use case for verticals such as banking, e-commerce and digital payments. Some media reports indicate at least ₹300 Crore of financial loss due to identity theft in FY23 alone. The recent press release from Reserve Bank of India highlights the need for more authentication solutions than SMS-OTP to address some of the concerns. Times Mobile is very happy to bring Sekura.id’s solutions to India to address these issues.”

Leveraging the strengths of both companies, this partnership will enable Times Internet to deliver innovative, unique mobile identity products and services to millions of Indian customers resulting in next-level ‘humanised’ authentications, robust fraud prevention and truly better products for its customers.
